On the afternoon of May 5, Mr. Tran Van Lau - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Soc Trang province - officially informed that Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son has just signed a decision to establish a branch of Can Tho University in Soc Trang.
According to the content of Decision 1202, Can Tho University is responsible for reporting to the Ministry of Education and Training on the conditions for ensuring educational quality to allow the Can Tho University Branch in Soc Trang province to implement training activities according to the provisions of law.
Previously, on October 10, 2024, the People's Committee of Soc Trang province held a temporary handover ceremony for the facilities of Area A and Area B of Soc Trang Provincial Community College to Can Tho University to establish a branch in this province.
On November 24, 2024, Can Tho University held the Opening Ceremony of human resource training courses in Soc Trang province and received the land use right certificate at Can Tho University, Soc Trang Branch.
According to the leader of Soc Trang Provincial People's Committee, currently, the province has no university or universityemia. Therefore, the establishment of the locality in Can Tho University in order to address the study needs on the spot, shorten the travel gap for students, people and officials, public servants and officials in the province when participating in university and postgraduate training courses. The number of students after graduating from high school will have more opportunities for college, contributing to improving the proportion of highly qualified resources for the province.
According to the plan, when put into operation, Can Tho University branch in Soc Trang will train masters in the following majors: Information Technology; Crop science, majoring in Smart Agricultural Engineering; Agricultural systems, majoring in Climate Change and sustainable tropical agriculture.
