On January 29, the University of Transport and Communications organized a conference to summarize science and technology activities in the period 2022 - 2025.
In the period 2022 - 2025, the school's science and technology activities achieved many outstanding achievements: Science and technology management was innovated in a modern direction; international publications continued to grow steadily; the "three-house expanded" cooperation model continued to improve; the income of officials and lecturers actively participating in science and technology activities was improved.
Intellectual property registration and technology transfer activities have grown steadily and transferred many technologies into practice. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Hung - Rector of the University of Transport and Communications assessed that the results of the 2022–2025 period are the result of the persistent efforts of the team of officials, lecturers, and scientists; and are the result of the companionship from management agencies, businesses, partners and alumni.

However, he also frankly acknowledged that the school's science and technology activities have developed well but have not really made a breakthrough, and there is still a gap between the internal potential and the new development requirements of the country and the expectations of society.

In the coming period, from the development foundation and available potential, the school will continue to improve science and technology management according to the orientation: clear goals - clear results - prioritizing practical products with applicability; especially in key science and technology orientations; and at the same time promote the commercialization of science and technology products to create more research resources" - said the Rector of the University of Transport.
Presenting a presentation at the conference, Mr. Nguyen Ky - Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Science and Technology said that currently the system of newly promulgated Laws, Decrees and Circulars has formed a relatively complete, synchronous and breakthrough legal corridor for science, technology, and innovation development.
In addition, localities also have specific mechanisms and policies to promote science and technology development, innovation and digital transformation for localities, contributing to sustainable development.
Mr. Ky said that this opens up great opportunities in innovating research activities, technology transfer, and cooperation with businesses. However, it also poses new requirements in strongly innovating scientific management thinking and school development models.
He also emphasized that the key factor is to effectively utilize new mechanisms and policies to become a center of knowledge and innovation.
For the University of Transport and Communications, the new legal framework both opens up great opportunities and sets requirements for strong innovation. Effectively utilizing new mechanisms and policies will be a key factor for the school to truly become a center of knowledge, innovation and direct contribution to socio-economic development in the coming period" - Mr. Ky said.
In the period 2026-2030, with the vision of becoming a key national multi-disciplinary university oriented towards research, reputable in Asia, the University of Transport sets out 9 key tasks: Developing research in priority fields; Investing in research infrastructure; Developing high-quality human resources; Innovating mechanisms and policies; Building an innovative ecosystem; Promoting technology transfer; Strengthening international cooperation; Improving the quality of training in key industries; Comprehensive digital transformation.
