Closing the 10th grade entrance exam for non-specialized public high schools taking place in two days, May 30 and 31, on the morning of June 1, more than 16,000 Hanoi students entered the specialized exam round to compete for a place at specialized high schools in the city.
According to the enrollment plan of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, candidates registering their aspirations for Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted, Chu Van An, Nguyen Hue and Son Tay will take the specialized subject corresponding to the registered specialized class.
In the morning time frame, from 8 am, candidates take the exams for specialized Literature, specialized Mathematics (applied to specialized Math and specialized Informatics classes) and some Foreign Language subjects. The exam time for each subject is 150 minutes.

According to the exam schedule, in the afternoon of the same day, from 2 pm, candidates will continue to do the remaining specialized subjects including Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History, Geography and English.
In the 2026-2027 school year, students are allowed to register for specialized classes of a maximum of two out of four specialized high schools directly under the Hanoi Department of Education and Training. Candidates can register for the same specialized subject at two schools or choose different specialized subjects if they do not coincide with the exam schedule.
To be eligible to participate in the specialized exam round, students must pass the preliminary selection step and complete all three common exams including Literature, Mathematics, Foreign Language and the specialized subject exam according to their registered aspirations.
