Achievement disease still creates pressure on learners and educational institutions
The Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) on July 24 announced the summary report for the 2025 - 2026 school year.
Accordingly, the Ministry said that the 2026 high school graduation exam has been organized according to the plan. The exam results will be announced on July 1, about 3 weeks earlier than every year.
The exam questions have appropriate differentiation, ensuring the goal of considering graduation recognition and using the results for admission to higher education and vocational education institutions. The graduation rate of localities is basically stable as last year.
However, in the 2026 high school graduation exam, there were also some cases of using high technology to cheat but only detected after the exam (due to other candidates' denunciations). There was also a serious violation of the law and exam regulations at the exam site of Tuyen Quang Specialized High School (Tuyen Quang province), and the exam site of Le Truc High School (Quang Tri province).
The Ministry of Education and Training believes that the cause of the above situation is that technology is developing very quickly while fraud prevention nghiệp vụ has not been updated regularly, fraud detection equipment has not been equipped synchronously, and a part of invigilators do not have experience. Violations at some exam sites are due to those who deliberately violate regulations and do not properly perform their responsibilities.
Along with that, achievement disease and the mentality of valuing grades still create pressure on learners and educational institutions.
In organizing the 2026 high school graduation exam, the serious violations of law and regulations at exam sites in Tuyen Quang and Quang Tri show that risk management, personal responsibility control and prevention of fraud using high technology are not really strict, affecting discipline and prestige of the industry" - the Ministry of Education and Training stated.
Strengthening the responsibility of heads
Regarding key tasks and solutions for the 2026-2027 school year, the Ministry of Education and Training sets a goal to innovate the work of exams, tests, assessments and quality accreditation of education.
Specifically, the Ministry will organize the 2027 high school graduation exam safely, seriously, objectively, fairly, in accordance with regulations, strengthening the responsibility of localities, exam councils and heads.
At the same time, proactively deploy solutions to prevent and combat exam cheating using high-tech equipment and artificial intelligence, strengthen coordination between the education sector and the police force, information and communication agencies in ensuring security, safety, and confidentiality of exam questions and exam data.
The Ministry will continue to prepare conditions on institutions, infrastructure, question banks, software and human resources to gradually organize exams, tests, and computer assessments in localities and educational institutions that meet the conditions from 2027. Ensure that the conversion of exam methods is carried out cautiously, with a roadmap, without creating inequality between regions.
Strengthen the analysis and exploitation of exam results, broad-based assessment results and learning data to adjust teaching methods, support students and develop education policies. Overcome the disease of achievement in recognizing national standard schools, ensuring true assessment, and sustainably maintaining post-recognition criteria.
