Expected teacher holiday for 8 weeks
The above content is mentioned in the draft Decree regulating a number of articles of the Law on Teachers, which is being consulted by the Ministry of Education and Training until December 19.
The draft stipulates that the annual summer vacation for teachers at preschools, general education institutions, continuing education institutions, university reserve schools, and specialized schools is 8 weeks, including annual leave.
The annual summer vacation for teachers in secondary schools and college lecturers is 6 weeks; for teachers in vocational education centers is 4 weeks; summer vacation includes annual leave.
The annual summer vacation for lecturers at higher education institutions is implemented according to the regulations on organization and operation of higher education institutions;
In case of emergency or emergency to prevent natural disasters, epidemics or in urgent cases, the summer vacation time for teachers of preschools, general education institutions, continuing education institutions, university reserve schools, specialized schools, vocational training institutions shall be decided by the Minister of Education and Training according to his authority.
In addition to the summer vacation period prescribed in Clause 1 of this Article, teachers and lecturers are entitled to holidays, Tet and other holidays prescribed by the Ministry of Labor.
Based on the school year schedule issued by the Ministry of Education and Training and specific local conditions, the Chairman of the People's Committee of the province and centrally run city (hereinafter referred to as the Provincial People's Committee) decides on the summer vacation time for teachers at preschools, continuing education institutions, university reserve schools, and specialized schools in the area.
The draft also stipulates that heads of higher education institutions and vocational training institutions decide on the summer vacation time for teachers and lecturers in accordance with the training plan and specific conditions of each school.
The summer vacation of teachers in educational institutions under the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of National Defense shall be implemented according to the regulations of the Minister of National Defense and the Minister of Public Security.
Procedures for retirement at an older age
According to the draft Resolution, annually, educational institutions, based on development orientation, human resource situation of the organization and requirements of job position, announce policies and needs to extend working time;
Teachers who meet the prescribed conditions, have a request to extend their working time, and submit it to competent authorities according to the management decree for a period of at least 06 months before retirement;
The competent authority according to the management hierarchy shall review and evaluate the conditions for teachers with the potential to extend their working time and the policies and needs of public service units to review and decide on the extension of working time and the extension of time for each case of teachers;
The decision to extend the working period of teachers shall be sent to relevant organizations and individuals at least 3 months before the retirement date.
For specialized majors and fields specifically in the fields of health, culture, arts, physical education, and sports, teachers without the titles of professor, associate professor, or doctoral can enjoy the retirement regime at an older age as prescribed in Article 29 of the Law on Teachers.
The competent ministries and agencies shall specify in detail the requirements for standards and conditions for teachers working in specialized and specialized fields to enjoy retirement benefits at a higher age.
