On April 17, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Gia Lai province organized a launching program to respond to the 5th Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day, and at the same time launched the Gia Lai Provincial Reading Culture Ambassador Contest 2026. The program attracted a large number of students from coastal to mountainous areas to participate.
Ms. Huynh Thi Anh Thao - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Gia Lai province said that in order to promote and honor the value of books, the unit has coordinated with the education sector to make reading activities a practical content in schools. At the same time, coordinate with localities to invest in and upgrade library systems, especially in difficult areas, ensuring that all people have the opportunity to access knowledge.

Currently, Gia Lai is an attractive tourist destination. In the series of activities in response to Gia Lai National Tourism Year 2026, from April 17 to 19, the Coffee and Book Festival will take place with many activities such as: booth exhibition, introduction of local craft villages, OCOP products, book space, coffee culinary experience area and creative area for children.
People and tourists will have the opportunity to enjoy Gia Lai's typical coffee lines, and also participate in activities such as exchanging old books, interacting with authors and reading books for free.
We hope that each book booth, each exhibition space at the event will become an attractive destination for tourists. In the coming time, localities need to continue to promote and replicate these models to strongly spread reading culture associated with tourism development," Ms. Thao emphasized.
Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Thong - Vice Chairman of Pleiku Ward People's Committee said that through reading, people have conditions to train critical thinking, improve analytical ability and skills to solve problems logically and effectively.
The development of reading culture not only contributes to improving people's knowledge and fostering personality, but also creates an important foundation for the sustainable development of the locality and the country.
Over the past time, schools in Pleiku ward have maintained effective library operations, built friendly reading corners; residential groups have gradually formed community bookshelves.

However, the strong development of digital technology brings many benefits but also somewhat narrows traditional reading. This requires appropriate solutions to arouse the love of reading, orienting the habit of receiving information more selectively and deeply.
The opinions also emphasized that each family needs to build a reading habit; each agency, unit, and school promotes the effectiveness of reading space, creating favorable conditions for everyone to access books, thereby spreading the message: "Books and knowledge - the driving force for development in the era of prosperity and prosperity of the nation".
