Teacher salaries are ranked highest since 2026
From 2026, when the Law on Teachers officially takes effect, teachers' salaries will be ranked at the highest level in the administrative career salary scale system. This is stipulated in Article 23 of the Law, demonstrating the recognition of the special role of teachers in the civil service system. However, this regulation will need specific guidance from the Government for implementation. Currently, teachers' salaries are still calculated on a coefficient multiplied by the basic salary of VND 2,340,000/month according to Decree 73/2024/ND-CP.

According to current circulars of the Ministry of Education and Training, the salary coefficient of teachers at all levels (kindergarten, primary school, secondary school, high school) ranges from 2.10 to 6.78 depending on the rank and grade. Specifically, Grade I teachers have the highest coefficient of 6.78, equivalent to a salary of nearly 16 million VND/month (excluding allowances). Meanwhile, newly admitted teachers (grade III, level 1) have a starting salary of more than 4.9 million VND/month.
The application of the new salary table from 2026 is expected to significantly improve the treatment regime for teachers, create motivation to work and attract high-quality human resources for the education sector. See more...
