Students worry about the high rate of admission to high schools in Ho Chi Minh City
The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training announced more than 70,000 public 10th grade enrollment targets for the 2025-2026 school year. A notable change is that Gia Dinh, Mac Dinh Chi, Nguyen Thuong Hien and Nguyen Huu Huan schools will stop enrolling in specialized classes, only enrolling in regular and integrated classes. Currently, there are only 3 specialized schools in Ho Chi Minh City including: Le Hong Phong, Tran Dai Nghia and Pho Bang Thieu, and all 3 are enrolling nationwide.

The expansion of enrollment scope has made students worry about the increased level of competition. Many 9th graders such as Ngoc Anh and Lan Phuong expressed pressure when recruiting for admission to specialized schools, even though they were still determined to pursue their goals. A representative of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training advised students to review effectively, maintain a stable mentality and allocate reasonable study time to avoid unnecessary pressure.
Candidates in Ho Chi Minh City who want to take the exam to Le Hong Phong or Tran Dai Nghia High School must register online before 5:00 p.m. on May 10, while students from other provinces must submit their application at Le Hong Phong before 4:00 p.m. on May 9. The exam took place on June 6-7. For example, thekgkg School will accept applications until 5:00 p.m. on May 11 and hold the exam on May 24-25. See more...
