According to the plan of the Department of Education and Training (DET) of Ho Chi Minh City, grade 9 students will have to complete their wish registration for grade 10 before 5:00 p.m. on May 10.
However, today (May 8), many 9th graders have completed their wish registration.
Nguyen Gia Han, a 9th grade student in Binh Tan District, said that he has completed his wish list for grade 10: "I have carefully researched the benchmark scores of previous years and my abilities, so I am quite assured when choosing wish 1 to enter Binh Phu High School, wish 2 to enter An Lac High School and wish 3 to enter Pham Phu Thu High School".
Gia Han said that she will consider adjusting her wishes after knowing the employment rate of the schools.
Bao Ngoc - another 9th grade student - said that he had registered his first wish to enter Mac Dinh Chi High School; his second wish to enter Binh Phu High School and his third wish to enter Nguyen Tat Thanh High School.
"These are all schools near my home, the standard score gap between schools last year set the wish for 1 and 3 is more than 5 points, so I am very assured. I think I will be admitted to the voluntary program 1 or 2", Bao Ngoc confidently said.
Ms. Tran Thu Hang (Binh Tan District), Bao Ngoc's parent, said that she was very worried when her child was preparing to take the entrance exam for the 10th grade transfer exam.
"My husband and I are both workers, raising 2 children in the city at the same time is not easy, so we hope that our children can take the entrance exam to public schools to reduce the financial burden. However, we do not force children to register at this or that school. We only advise and orient. The decision is still up to me, because I am the one who understands my abilities and desires the most," Ms. Hang confided.

According to Ho Chi Minh City's 10th grade admission plan this year, each student can register 3 wishes for regular grade 10, in order of priority from top to bottom, if admitted with any wish, candidates must study that wish and not change the order.
The admission score is the total score: Literature score + Foreign language score + Math score + priority and incentive score (if any).
If they do not pass all 3 wishes in the entrance exam, candidates can register for grade 10 admission at Continuing Education Centers, Vocational Education - Continuing Education Centers or participate in other types of education and training.
It is expected that by May 14, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City will announce the number of students registering for 1 wish at each school, from which parents and students can know the wish rate for each school this year and adjust their wishes if needed before 5:00 p.m. on May 19.
The 10th grade entrance exam in Ho Chi Minh City will take place on June 6 and 7. Candidates will take 3 subjects: Math, Literature (120 minutes/subject) and Foreign Language (90 minutes, according to foreign language 1 being studied at school). Candidates who register for a specialized school or integrated class will take an additional exam in a specialized subject or equivalent integrated (150 minutes).
