The Ministry of Education and Training announces a framework for converting university admission methods
The Ministry of Education and Training has just issued guidelines for university admissions in 2025, clearly stipulating the principles for building a framework for converting equivalent scores between admission methods such as separate exams (HSA, APT, TSA...) and high school graduation exam subjects. This conversion is based on the differential method from candidate data with both types of scores to ensure equivalence, transparency, science and ease of understanding.
Universities need to determine the most suitable subject combination for each separate exam and develop a formula for linear conversion according to the scoring range instructed by the Ministry. The announcement of data on differential equations and conversion scores will be done before May 31 (for separate exams) and up to 3 days after the results of the high school graduation exam to serve the admission process in time.
Regarding transcript scores, the Ministry of Education and Training will not build a general conversion framework due to the lack of a unified assessment scale, but will provide statistical data on the correlation between transcript scores and high school exam scores. Training institutions are responsible for analyzing annual enrollment data, the nature of each admission method, the general scores and the difficulty of each exam to develop a table and conversion formula suitable for each training major. Many concerns before the draft on reward and discipline of students
The draft regulating new student discipline of the Ministry of Education and Training proposes to only apply reminders and apology requests to primary school students; for secondary and high school students, three levels are applied: reminders, criticism, writing reviews, and removing the form of temporary suspension. Many parents consider this a positive step forward, focusing on education and transformation instead of punishment, but are also wondering whether the new forms are deterrent enough.
Some parents and teachers believe that students in middle school are prone to rebellion, and if there are no strong measures to handle it, it can lead to a situation of taking the rules lightly. Ms. Tran Thi Tho - a teacher at Hoang Van Thu High School (Hanoi) said that the school has streamlined discipline, only suspended school for 3 days or criticized before class, and forms such as lowering conduct checks and recording academic records still have a high deterrent effect. Therefore, if all forms of discipline are abolished, it will be counterproductive.
Dr. Vu Thu Huong - psychologist, former lecturer at Hanoi National University of Education emphasized that disciplining students cannot stop at reminders or formal reviews. According to experts, reasonable discipline is a tool for moral education and building legal awareness for students. See more...
