Proposal to keep academic records but need more criteria to ensure fairness
Organize more fun activities when limiting students' use of phones at school
From October 2025 to the end of the first semester of the 2025-2026 school year, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training will pilot the limitation of students' use of phones and electronic devices during recess at 16 schools representing 16 professional clusters in the area, with about 30,000 students participating. From January 2026, this plan will be implemented simultaneously at all general education institutions in the city.
During recess, each school must organize at least 3 diverse replacement activities such as sports ( mini basketball, badminton, rope jumping), performing arts, life skills clubs, folk games (o mang quan, snake on clouds, tug of war...) to help students actively participate, limiting the use of phones for personal entertainment purposes.
The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training also trains staff and teachers to guide appropriate activities, and parents sign a 3-party commitment with the school and students, and have a Zalo group to monitor their children's activities. Schools must also, depending on the actual situation, develop a reasonable phone management plan to build a healthy school environment, contributing to improving the quality of comprehensive education.
