Hanoi ensures fire safety in the 10th grade and high school graduation exam
In the next 2 days of June 7-8, nearly 103,000 Hanoi candidates will take the 10th grade entrance exam for public high school in the 2025-2026 school year. The whole city has more than 115,000 registrations, including the specialist group and 268 independent candidates. The high school graduation exam takes place from June 26-28 with about 120,000 candidates at 250 exam locations.

In order to ensure safety, from May 30 to June 2, the Fire Police force coordinated with schools to inspect electrical systems, fire fighting equipment, escape routes, organize drills, and promote skills in handling fire and explosion situations at exam locations in Hoan Kiem District.
In the hot weather, schools are required to implement a "4 on-site" plan to prevent and fight fires. Close coordination between the school and the authorities helps ensure maximum safety, creating the most favorable conditions for students to confidently enter the important exam. See more...
1/23 highest fight for grade 10 in a 'hot' specialized school in Hanoi
More than 5,700 candidates from many provinces and cities have come to Hanoi to take the 10th grade entrance exam of the University of Education High School for the Gifted. Although it was early in the morning, the school gate was crowded with parents, students and volunteers to support. Parents are worried, students are pressured by the high competition rate, especially the English specialized class is up to 1/22.9.
This year's exam has a new point when candidates have to take 4 subjects, of which the new general subject is English (60 minutes). Math and Literature have a new structure, combining essay and multiple-choice, the exam time is increased to 120 minutes. The specialized subjects are 150 minutes, while the English and Chemistry subjects are 120 minutes.
There are only 420 quotas, so only candidates who do not violate the regulations, and no exam under 3.5 points will be considered for admission. Lam Son Specialized School cannot go on a single road
The Lam Son Specialized School (Thanh Hoa) raising the coefficient of specialized subjects from 2 to 3 in the 10th grade entrance exam for the 2025-2026 school year caused much controversy. The school believes that this is the right way to recruit students with good expertise, but many opinions object because they think that this method violates the principle of comprehensive education and causes pressure to distort students.

The coefficient 2 for the major has been applied synchronously for many years to ensure a balance between talent classification and comprehensive assessment. The change of the coefficient to 3 causes the scores for specialized subjects to account for more than half of the total admission scores, forcing students to study skewedly, easily falling behind if they are not admitted to specialized schools and raising concerns about fairness and transparency in the exam.
Experts say that instead of increasing the coefficient, more professional measures such as raising the difficulty of the test or organizing two rounds can be applied. A degree exam needs to have a clear roadmap, open consultation and consistency with the philosophy of general education. Specialized schools should not only be places to select excellent students in one subject, but need to develop comprehensively on an in-depth platform. See more...
