At the end of April 2025, a number of localities in Dak Lak province issued a notice to recover the amount of preferential allowances for teachers due to previously spent in violation of regulations.
What makes teachers worried is that the collection time is too short, putting teachers in a difficult, even confused situation.
The People's Committee of Krong Nang district, Dak Lak province issued a document to 19 kindergartens, primary schools, and secondary schools in the communes of Phu Xuan, Tam Giang, Phu Loc, Ea Toh requesting the recovery of a total amount of more than 16 billion VND.
The recovery will be implemented when the Dak Lak Provincial Inspectorate conducts a surprise inspection of the payment of preferential allowances for teachers. At the same time, a decision was issued to recover more than 125 billion VND for incorrect expenditures.
The Chairman of the People's Committee of Krong Nang district requested schools to recover the payment of preferential allowances for teachers exceeding the prescribed norms with an amount of more than 16 billion VND.
Assign principals of schools to develop a recovery plan in accordance with the actual situation at the unit, and submit it to the deposit account of the Provincial Inspectorate but ensure completion before December 20.
Similarly, the People's Committee of Krong Pak district, Dak Lak province has issued a notice to 28 kindergartens, primary schools, and secondary schools in Hoa An, Hoa Tien, Ea Kuang, Ea Kly communes and Phuoc An town requesting the recovery of nearly 22 billion VND.
For example, Nguyen Viet Xuan Primary School (Ea Toc commune, Krong Nang district) had to recover more than 2 billion VND.
According to the teachers' calculations, each person must pay an average of nearly 40 million VND for nearly 8 months.
A teacher at the school said: "I am extremely worried when receiving a document to recover preferential allowances. The time determined to be 38 months of wrong payment, so the additional monthly payment is not much. Meanwhile, according to the recall plan, it must be returned within less than 8 months".
"Both husband and wife are teachers, with a total income of about 30 million VND/month. My family has 2 children in college, 1 child in high school, so my income is just enough to cover daily living. Now I have to pay about 13 million VND/month, so I am in a difficult situation" - this teacher added.
Previously, Lao Dong Newspaper reported that a series of teachers in Dak Lak province were very worried when they heard that the authorities were collecting the allowances they had received a few years ago.
The period of incorrect payments that must be recovered is from the effective date of Decision No. 861/QD-TTg dated June 4, 2021 of the Prime Minister until August 2024.
Because when Decision 861 took effect, many areas in Dak Lak province were no longer in the priority list and enjoyed preferential allowances.
In addition, preschool and primary school teachers will receive a preferential allowance of 35% instead of 50% as before. Meanwhile, secondary school teachers will receive a rate of 30% instead of 35%.
