Hanoi has 2 more specialized high schools

The Hanoi People's Committee has just decided to convert Chu Van An High School into a specialized school under the Hanoi Department of Education and Training.

On January 15, the Hanoi People's Committee decided to reorganize Chu Van An High School (Tay Ho District) into Chu Van An High School for the Gifted, under the Hanoi Department of Education and Training.

Chu Van An High School for the Gifted is a public general education institution in the national education system and in the general school system of Hanoi city. Since the decision, Chu Van An High School for the Gifted will operate in compliance with the current regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training for specialized schools and at the same time be under the direct and comprehensive guidance of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training and other relevant agencies of Hanoi city.

Also on January 15, the Hanoi People's Committee decided to reorganize Son Tay High School (Son Tay town) into Son Tay High School for the Gifted. Son Tay High School for the Gifted is a public general education institution in the national education system and in the system of general schools in Hanoi city.

Up to now, Chu Van An High School and Son Tay High School are two public high schools with specialized classes. The two schools enroll both regular (non-specialized) and specialized students. When converted to specialized schools, both will only enroll specialized students, starting from the 2025-2026 school year.

The construction and reorganization of Chu Van An and Son Tay schools into specialized high schools aims to improve the quality of training and fostering talented students for the capital; at the same time, implementing Circular No. 05/2023/TT-BGDDT of the Ministry of Education and Training on the operating regulations of specialized high schools, including the provision "no non-specialized classes in specialized schools".

Accordingly, in the 2024-2025 school year, Hanoi will have 4 specialized high schools under the Department of Education and Training, including: Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted, Nguyen Hue High School for the Gifted, Chu Van An High School for the Gifted and Son Tay High School for the Gifted.
