According to the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, the list of these new public high schools includes: Hoang Quan Chi High School (Yen Hoa ward), Vinh Hung High School (Vinh Hung ward), Viet Hung High School (Dong Anh commune), Xuan Khanh High School (Son Tay ward).
In which, Xuan Khanh High School has been established for many years but has just completed the construction of new facilities in another location, helping to increase the enrollment scale.
The Department of Education and Training estimates that four schools will recruit about 2,400 more targets for the new school year.
In addition to 4 public schools, next school year Hanoi will have 2 more private high schools including: Tran Hung Dao (Vinh Tuy ward) and Edison (An Khanh commune) that will enroll about 800 students.

Last year, Hanoi currently had 247 high schools, including public and private. In which, public schools include: 4 specialized high schools, 119 non-specialized public high schools and financially autonomous schools, and cooperative management schools.
This school year, the whole city has 147,000 secondary school graduates. In which, the public school system including public high schools, vocational education - continuing education, and vocational education institutions only recruit about 60% (88,000 targets).
In 2025, Hanoi has 2,310 public schools for 4 levels including: preschool, primary school, secondary school and high school, the general education level has the fewest schools.
The preschool level has about 813 schools, the primary level has 728 schools, and the secondary level has about 650 schools, while the high school level has only 122 schools (after adding 3 schools to operate from the 2025-2026 school year).
The 10th grade entrance exam in Hanoi in 2026 takes place from May 30 to June 1. Candidates take three subjects including Math, Literature, Foreign Language. For the Foreign Language exam, candidates register one of the languages such as English, French, German, Japanese, Korean.
The Math and Literature exams are in essay format, the exam time is 120 minutes/exam. The Foreign Language exam is in objective multiple-choice format, the exam time is 60 minutes.
