Worrying parents, confident candidates
On May 28, over 9,300 candidates, at 32 exam locations across Dien Bien province, began entering the entrance exam for grade 10 in the 2025-2026 school year.
Present at the Dien Bien Phu High School exam site, Lo Thi Ha Chi said: I have prepared knowledge quite carefully for this exam. Although I was a bit nervous, I tried my best to do the test to achieve my wishes.
While the students focused on doing their homework, outside the school gate, many parents could not hide their anxiety and excitement.

Mr. Lo Van Hanh (37 years old, Muong Phang commune, Dien Bien Phu city) took his child to the exam, confiding: "My emotions are very nervous and worried about my child. I just hope you are calm, do your homework well and pass the first wish list.
After finishing the first two subjects, Math and English, in the morning, many students left the exam room in a quite comfortable mood. According to their assessment, this year's exam is quite suitable for the program they have studied, with a classification but not too challenging. Many students are confident that they can achieve high scores in both subjects.
The number of candidates increased by more than 1,000 students According to the Department of Education and Training of Dien Bien, compared to the entrance exam for grade 10 in the 2024-2025 school year (with 8,273 candidates), the number of candidates this year has increased by more than 1,000 students (9,316 candidates).
Previously, the 2024-2025 school year exam also recorded a significant increase with 2,773 candidates compared to the previous school year.
Despite the increase in the number of candidates, the admission rate to Dien Bien public high schools in the 2025-2026 school year is still quite low. The whole province plans to enroll 200 classes in grade 10 high school, with 8,004 students. Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted recruits 350 students for 10 specialized classes.

According to the Department of Education and Training of Dien Bien, this is the second consecutive year that 33/33 high schools across the province have organized entrance exams. The exam is held at 32 exam locations, applied to all three groups of subjects: students registered in non-professional public high schools, ethnic boarding schools and Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted.
On May 28, the contestants will take 3 general subjects including Math, English and Literature. Candidates who register to join Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted will take the additional specialized exam according to their wishes on May 29, divided into two shifts.
To ensure the exam takes place seriously, objectively and in accordance with regulations, the Department has developed a detailed inspection and examination plan, from the preparation stage, considering the exam to the work of making emphasizes, marking exams and re-examination.
The Department also requires all cadres, teachers, and staff participating in organizing the exam to promote a sense of responsibility and strictly comply with regulations. Security for exam questions, anti-fraud work and ensuring absolute safety for exams are given top priority.
