Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology - Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City stipulates that candidates with English certificates (CCTA) IELTS Academic ≥ 6.0/TOEFL iBT ≥ 60/TOEIC Listening - Reading ≥ 570 and Speech - Writing ≥ 310/PTE Academic ≥ 47 will be converted to English subject scores in the high school graduation exam scores for admission combinations using English (scale of 10 points).
In which, for the IELTS certificate, the 7.0 level is converted to 8 points in English in the high school graduation exam; 6.5 is converted to 8.5 points; 7.0 to 9 points; 7.5 to 9.5 points; and from 8.0 or higher is converted to 10 points.
Ho Chi Minh City Open University stipulates that foreign language certificates including English, Japanese, Chinese, and Korean are allowed to be converted to English exam scores when considering admission.
Accordingly, IELTS certificates from 5.0 are converted to 7 points in English; 5.5 is converted to 8 points; 6.0 is converted to 9 points and from 6.5 or higher is converted to 10 points.
Nguyen Tat Thanh University stipulates that candidates with IELTS certificates from 4.5/9. 0 or TOEIC (L&R) 550/990 or TOEIC (Bridge) 76/100 or TOEFL iBT from 30/120 or TOEFL ITP from 450/677 or Cambridge from 140/230 are prioritized for admission to majors with English subjects with an alternative score equivalent to 8 on a 10-point scale.

According to the Enrollment Regulations for training majors at the university level and preschool education majors at the college level in 2026, the Ministry of Education and Training requires the conversion table of foreign language certificates to have at least 5 score differences, so some schools may adjust the IELTS score conversion level in the near future.
