Early school opening drum in the great forest

On September 4, students at 2 schools in Tay Son and Sub-area 179, Dam Rong 2 commune (Lam Dong), excitedly attended the opening ceremony of the 2026 - 2027 school year.

The opening drum sounded in the great forests of the Southern Central Highlands, bringing joy to teachers, students and parents in remote areas, where the road to school is still difficult.

The two school sites belong to Lieng Sronh Primary School and Bang Lang Kindergarten, more than 60km from the commune center. This school year, students study in more spacious classrooms.

In Sub-area 179, the school site belonging to Lieng Sronh Primary School was invested nearly 4.3 billion VND, built solidly and put into use.

Ms. Hoang Hai Yen - Principal of Lieng Sronh Primary School - said that the new school helps students have a safer and cleaner study space, and at the same time creates conditions for teachers to organize educational activities.

From now on, students can study in more spacious and safe classrooms. Teachers also have more conditions to organize educational activities," Ms. Yen shared.

In the new school year, Sub-area 179 also has one kindergarten class belonging to Bang Lang Kindergarten. Children are educated right in the area, helping to reduce difficulties for families.

From temporary classroom to new school

More than 20 years ago, Sub-area 179 and Tay Son were stopovers for H'Mong families who migrated freely from the northern mountainous provinces.

At that time, temporary classrooms, lacking facilities, were a familiar image.

Now, the opening day is held in new schools. Teachers and people clean up and decorate classrooms and schoolyards to prepare for the school year.

Mr. Ndu Ha Bien - Secretary of the Party Committee of Dam Rong 2 commune - said that putting new school sites into use contributes to creating a close educational environment suitable to the actual conditions of the locality.

According to Mr. Truong Van Sang - Chairman of Dam Rong 2 Commune People's Committee, the locality currently has 3 schools about 60km or more from the center.

In addition to the newly completed Sub-area 179 school point, the commune is urging the completion of the Sub-area 181 school point with a total investment of 4.2 billion VND.

Tay Son school point has been put into use from the 2025 - 2026 school year.

For teacher Ly Thi Chanh, a H'Mong person born and raised in Sub-area 179, the opening day at the new school was full of emotions.

After becoming adult, she returned to her hometown to teach classes and teach children in the village.

“The day I came here with my family, built a shack to live in, I didn't think that one day my children would be able to study in these conditions,” Ms. Chanh shared.

Ms. Ly Thi Vang, 24 years old, whose child is studying in kindergarten in Sub-area 179, is excited that her child is studying near home.

We are very happy. The children are now studying in clean, beautiful schools, no longer having to go far to find classrooms," Ms. Vang said.

In the great forest, the early opening ceremony not only opens the new school year but also marks the change of remote school sites.

From temporary classrooms to solid school roofs, H'Mong children in Dam Rong 2 have more conditions to study and nurture their dreams.
