The Tet holiday schedule for students in Ho Chi Minh City is specified in the school year plan approved by the City People's Committee.
Accordingly, the city will give students a break from January 25 to February 2, 2025 (December 26 to January 5), a total of 9 days. Meanwhile, in previous years, students' Tet holiday usually lasted 14 - 16 days.
Lunar New Year 2024, students will be off from February 5, 2024 (December 26) to February 18, 2024 (January 9), a total of 14 days.
However, because February 5, 2024 (December 26) is Monday, schools with fixed holidays on Saturday will have a total of 16 days off for Lunar New Year 2024.
Many parents say that the Tet holiday schedule for students in Ho Chi Minh City this year is short, inconvenient for families who want to visit relatives far away.
Ms. Nguyen Minh Bach Lan, Deputy Chief of Office of the Department of Education and Training, said that based on the actual situation and plans of the schools, the Department is calculating suitable options to submit to the city, in the spirit of ensuring consistency and creating favorable conditions for teachers and students.
Previously, many provinces announced the 2025 Tet holiday schedule. The detailed schedule is specified in the school year plan framework.
In Can Tho, students will have Tet holiday starting from January 22, 2025 (December 23rd of the lunar calendar) to February 2, 2025 (January 5th of the lunar calendar).
In Dong Nai, holidays and Tet are implemented according to the provisions of the 2019 Labor Code and guiding documents of competent authorities.
In Kien Giang, students have 2 weeks off for Tet. Holidays are implemented according to the provisions of the 2019 Labor Code and the guiding documents of the People's Committee of Kien Giang province.
In Long An, the Tet holiday is 10 days, from January 24, 2025 (December 25th of the lunar calendar) to February 2, 2025 (January 5th of the lunar calendar).
In Yen Bai, the Lunar New Year holiday schedule is as follows:
- For cadres, civil servants, public employees, and workers: Comply with the provisions of the 2019 Labor Code and guiding documents of the Ministry of Education and Training and the People's Committee of Yen Bai province.
- For students: 14 days, from January 22, 2025 to February 4, 2025 (from December 23, year of the Dragon to January 7, year of the Snake).
Holidays and annual leave: Comply with current regulations and holiday exchange according to State regulations.
According to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, students have 35 weeks of actual study and 2 weeks for holidays and other activities. In addition, the summer vacation must last a full three months.
