Yesterday (April 28) was the end of the registration day for the 2025 high school graduation exam for 12th graders and independent candidates nationwide. This year, there are over 1.1 million candidates taking this exam.
The Ministry of Education and Training announced on the morning of April 29 the number of candidates taking the high school graduation exam for each exam subject. In addition to Math and Literature as two compulsory subjects, candidates tend to choose subjects in the social sciences, similar to recent years.
Of which, History is the most chosen subject with nearly 500,000 registered candidates. Next are Geography (more than 494,000), English (nearly 359,000), Physics (more than 354,000). The remaining subjects are all under 250,000 candidates registered to take the exam.
The two new subjects, Technology and IT, were the least selected. Of which, IT subject has more than 7,700 students registered for the exam, Industrial Technology has only more than 2,400.

In this year's high school graduation exam, the group of candidates taking the first graduation exam under the 2018 general education program must take four exams, including Math and Literature. In addition, students choose two subjects they have studied at school (Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Geography, History, Economic and Legal Education, Information Technology, Technology and Foreign Language).
Candidates taking the exam under the old program (2006) will take the Literature, Math, Foreign Language exam, at the same time as one of two subjects: Natural Sciences (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) and Social Sciences (History, Geography, Civic Education).
The 2025 high school graduation exam scores were announced on July 16, one day earlier than last year.
