10th grade entrance exam of the Propaganda Department High School
This year, the entrance exam to Ho Chi Minh City National University for the Gifted will take place over 2 days, May 24-25, at 3 exam locations.
Exam No. 1: Propaganda and Technology High School (District 5 campus), address at 153 Nguyen Chi Thanh (Ward 9, District 5, Ho Chi Minh City). The exam will be held on May 24 and the morning of May 25.
Exam No. 2: Saigon Practical High School, address at 220 Tran Binh Trong (Ward 4, District 5, Ho Chi Minh City). The exam will be held on May 24 and the afternoon of May 25.
Exam No. 3: Petroleum High School (Thu Duc campus), address at Ho Chi Minh City National University Urban Area (Linh Trung ward, Thu Duc city). The exam will be held on May 24 and May 25.
In the exam, each candidate must take 4 subjects, including 3 non-professional subjects (Math, Literature, English) and 1 specialized subject from the following subjects: Math, Informatics, Chemistry, Chemistry, Biology, Literature and English.
This year, the School for the Gifted has 3,509 candidates registered to take the exam, a decrease compared to the previous year (December 3,843). The school's enrollment target is 595 students. The average admission rate this year is 1/5.9.
Public high school 10th grade entrance exam
This year's public high school 10th grade entrance exam took place on June 6-7.
Candidates will take 3 subjects: Math, Literature (120 minutes/subject) and Foreign Language (90 minutes, according to foreign language 1 being studied at school). Candidates who register for a specialized school or integrated class will take an additional exam in a specialized subject or equivalent integrated (150 minutes).
This year, Ho Chi Minh City has more than 76,000 students out of a total of about 88,000 students in grade 9 registered to take the public grade 10 entrance exam. The total enrollment target of public high schools is more than 70,000 students.
Competency assessment survey for grade 6
This year, Ho Chi Minh City has 6 secondary schools enrolling grade 6 students using a competency assessment survey, including:
Tran Dai Nghia Secondary and High School (District 1) conducted a survey on June 16. The enrollment target is 350 students.
Nguyen Huu Tho Secondary School (District 7) conducted a survey on May 31.
Nguyen An Khuong Secondary School (Hoc Mon District) conducted a survey on May 30. In the 2025-2026 school year, Nguyen An Khuong Secondary School will recruit 280 students.
Tran Quoc Toan 1 Secondary School, Hoa Lu, Binh Tho (Thu Duc City): conducted a survey on May 24. The results are expected to be announced on May 30.
The enrollment target of Tran Quoc Toan 1 Secondary School is 315 students. Binh Tho and Hoa Lu Secondary School have targets of 280 and 245 students, respectively.
High school graduation exam
In Ho Chi Minh City, this year, nearly 100,000 12th grade students will participate in the high school graduation exam (an increase of nearly 9,000 students compared to 2024).
Of which, Foreign Language has the largest number of students registered for the exam (49,328), followed by Physics and Chemistry.
Ho Chi Minh City plans to organize 200 exam locations with 5,600 exam rooms; mobilize more than 14,000 cadres, teachers and staff to participate in the exam.
The exam will take place over 2 days, June 26-27.
