Currently, the Ministry of Education and Training is urgently developing and completing the Draft Decree regulating salary, allowance, support and attraction policies for teachers (hereinafter referred to as the draft Decree) to ensure synchronous effectiveness when the Law on Teachers takes effect from January 1, 2026.
According to Article 3 of the Draft Decree, the proposal to stipulate the new salary table for teachers in 2026 is calculated according to the formula:
Salary = ( phage received + position allowance coefficient + seniority allowance exceeding the framework + reserve difference (if any)) x Basic salary x Special salary coefficient.
According to the draft Decree on teachers' salaries, the salary table for secondary school teachers from 2026 will have many notable changes. The new salary is calculated based on the salary coefficient, specific salary coefficient and basic salary of VND 2.34 million according to Decree 73/2024/ND-CP, excluding allowances and subsidies.
Senior secondary school teachers are proposed to apply the salary coefficient of type A3.2 civil servants (from the salary coefficient of 5.75), the special salary coefficient of 1.2.
Key secondary school teachers are proposed to apply the salary coefficient of type A2.2 civil servants (from salary coefficient 4.00), specific coefficient 1.3.
Secondary school teachers are proposed to apply the salary coefficient of type A1 civil servants (from the salary coefficient of 2.34), specific coefficient of 1.45.
Secondary school teachers who have not yet achieved the standard qualification (colleggious qualification) are proposed to apply the salary coefficient of type A0 civil servants (from salary coefficient 2.10), specific coefficient 1.6.
Current salary table for junior high school teachers: The lowest salary is 5,475,600 VND/month, the highest salary is 15,865,200 VND/month.
If implemented according to the proposal of the draft Decree, the salary table for secondary school teachers in 2026 will increase significantly, with the lowest level being 7,862.400 VND, the highest being 21,200,400 VND.
