Reflecting to Lao Dong Newspaper, a parent said that his child had submitted an IELTS certificate to the Ministry of Education and Training's system but had not submitted it on the private system of the National Economics University. This candidate's application was then not confirmed as valid and was not included in the combined admission method.
According to parents, the Ministry of Education and Training has issued an official letter requesting training institutions to use IELTS certificate data declared by candidates on the Ministry's admissions system to ensure the rights of candidates. However, the National Economics University still requires candidates to submit certificates on the school's system.
Parents believe that this regulation prevents some candidates, even with valid IELTS certificates, from being considered for the combined method just because they have not completed an additional step of declaration.
Regarding the above reflection, in an exchange with Lao Dong Newspaper on July 24, Dr. Le Anh Duc - Head of Training Management Department, National Economics University said that throughout the time of implementing regular university admissions in 2026, the school has continuously publicly announced and provided full guidance on official information channels for candidates and parents to follow.
According to the school's regulations, all candidates registering for admission according to the combined admission method must submit their applications and provide evidence on the system of the National Economics University within the prescribed time limit. After that, the school conducts review, inspection, and validity verification before putting them into admission consideration. Reviewing applications to carry out university admission consideration is the autonomy and self-responsibility of universities.
The school only puts candidates for combined admission on the official admission list if there are results/proves that have been checked and verified as valid. Candidates who do not submit combined admission applications on the school's system but still register their aspirations for the National Economics University on the Ministry of Education and Training's system will be subject to admission according to the method of only using high school graduation exam scores, instead of combining exam scores and certificates.
Mr. Duc informed that this year, the National Economics University has inspected and verified nearly 25,000 international English certificates (IELTS, TOEFL iBT, TOEIC) and international competency assessment certificates (SAT, ACT). Among these, many certificates were rejected due to being invalid.
According to the school, before candidates start officially registering their aspirations on the Ministry of Education and Training's system, 100% of the data of candidates registering for combined admission on the school's system has been carefully reviewed and compared, ensuring accuracy and validity before being put into admission consideration.
Candidates with valid applications can check their admission scores before registering their aspirations on the Ministry's system.
National Economics University notes that candidates need to fully fulfill their responsibilities, including carefully reading the admission plan, following instructions and submitting applications in accordance with the school's regulations within the noticeed time limit.
