In Y Ty commune (Lao Cai province) in early December, the work of breaking rocks and leveling is being continuously implemented to form a site to serve the Y Ty Ethnic Boarding School Project - one of the province's key educational projects in the border area.
In harsh natural conditions and complex terrain, the progress of site clearance and construction is being closely followed by relevant units to handle each arising issue.

Present in Phin Ho village, where the main school area was built, according to the reporter of Lao Dong Newspaper, many machines and vehicles were mobilized to level the rocks and soil, and carry out site clearance work.
Here, an empty area is gradually taking shape to serve the project construction.
According to information from the Lao Cai Provincial Investment and Construction Project Management Board, all 12/12 affected households have received land recovery notices and have been counted.
The compensation, support and resettlement plan was established in accordance with regulations; in which 3 households have received compensation with a total cost of 1.6 billion VND. To date, 2.1 hectares of clean land have been handed over to the construction unit.

According to Mr. To Van Thanh - Secretary of the Party Committee of Y Ty commune, the locality has mobilized the political system to participate and propagate so that people clearly understand the significance of the project.
"Y Ty commune only has 1 household that needs to be resettled, but due to the lack of a resettlement project and limited land funds, the arrangement of new housing requires a lot of coordination. The government is supporting households to transfer land in families and prepare resettlement land in accordance with regulations," said Mr. To Van Thanh.
Along with that, through observation, at the current construction site, Truong Son 97 Branch (Truong Son Construction Corporation, Corps 12) mobilized machinery, human resources, set up campes and gathered materials.
As soon as the site was received, the contractor broke the stone, treated weak soil and opened a transportation road.

Mr. Nguyen Trong Vinh - Deputy Commander of the construction site - said that construction at Y Ty is facing many difficulties when winter temperatures often drop to nearly 0°C, with frost and thick fog appearing, making it difficult for machinery to move.
"The rock block needs to be demolished for more than 60,000 m3, while the blasting procedures in the border area take a long time. As soon as we have enough land, we will organize continuous construction to make up for the lost time," said Mr. Vinh.
The project started construction in early November 2025, with a total investment of 260 billion VND. The project is built on an area of 8.65 hectares, including a school area of more than 5.45 hectares and a connecting road of 3.2 hectares.
The new school is expected to improve learning conditions, meeting the boarding needs of students in border areas.

According to the design, the school consists of 12 primary schools, 16 secondary schools with boarding areas, military zones, common living spaces and synchronous auxiliary infrastructure. To date, the locality has handed over 2.1/5.45 hectares of school land.
The investor and the Y Ty commune government are continuing to complete the documents, mobilize and support people to speed up the remaining area, ensuring the contract completion schedule by the end of August 2026.
When put into use, the Y Ty Primary and Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities will contribute to improving the quality of education in border areas, creating a foundation to promote socio-economic development in the province's specific area.
