According to the reporter of Lao Dong Newspaper, on the morning of December 11, in the Hoa Binh Hydropower Reservoir area in Da Bac commune, the fog had not yet cleared up, covering the lake surface and the gaping limestone islands.
The sound of the boatets of some fishermen began a day of making a living in a large space, creating a rare movement on the calm water surface.
Mr. Bui Van Tinh (Da Bac commune) shared that this season the lake is gentler, less wind, and the water is calm, so boating is safer. Although the morning is cold but the water is clear, the fish are more noticeable and easier to catch than in the rainy season.

Near the Hoa Binh Hydropower Dam, the water level at the end of the year is quite stable, creating a spacious space. Each group of tourists stood on the side of the road watching the lake as the sunset passed.
Mr. Tran Khac My, owner of a tourist boat on the lake, said: "In the winter, there are not as many visitors as during the holidays, but visitors like peace".
Mr. Tran Minh Chien (a tourist from Thanh Hoa) commented: "The Hoa Binh Hydropower Reservoir area appears like a painting of the sea, clear water surface, high sky, cool air. Going by boat in the winter lake has a very different feeling - gentle, quiet and comfortable".

Mr. Pham Tuan Trung, Director of Tay Bac Tourism Company, commented that Hoa Binh lake in winter is becoming a "special landscape highlight" of the Northwest region.
"Hoa Binh Lake in winter has a very unique beauty that not every lake has. The fog is light in the early morning, the water is clear and calm, and late afternoon, the sunset light spreads like a golden flute on the lake surface.
This is the time when the lake boasted of its quiet, pure and poetic beauty. Tourists coming this season are often surprised because the lake is beautiful in a very natural way, without any need for arrangement" - Mr. Trung said.
Ms. Ban Kim Quy - Chairman of the People's Committee of Tien Phong commune (commune in the Hoa Binh lake area) said that the Hoa Binh lake in winter has a very unique beauty, the morning the mist covers the water surface, the sunlight rises on the rocky islands at noon, and in the afternoon, the lake is covered in purple sunset.

According to an update from Vietnam Electricity Group, the upstream water level of Hoa Binh Hydropower Reservoir on the morning of December 11 reached 117m, lower than the normal water level but still within the safe operating threshold.
The water flow to the reservoir reached 1158 m3/s, while the total discharge was about 581 m3/s, mainly through generators.
Currently, the lake is operating according to the inter-reservoir process during the dry season, maintaining stable water levels to ensure power generation, water supply downstream and serving water traffic on the lake.
Thanks to the steady water supply and less fluctuating weather, the lake surface these days is calmer than at the beginning of the rainy season, contributing to the typical static landscape of the December lake.
