In 2025, university admissions are expected to have many changes. According to the draft admission regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET), if considering academic records, schools must use a combination of at least three subjects, including Math or Literature with a proportion of one-third or more of the total score. Schools must also use the results of the entire 12th grade year, instead of using scores from 3-5 semesters as before.
In addition, the Ministry of Education and Training plans to tighten early admission to 20% of the target instead of having no control as before.
Up to now, although the Ministry of Education and Training has not announced the 2025 enrollment regulations, many universities have proposed expected enrollment plans, including considering high school transcripts.
Foreign Trade University has announced its enrollment plans for 2025. Accordingly, the school will consider the transcripts of 3 years of high school for candidates participating in the national science and technology competition; winning third prize or higher in the city-level competition for excellent students; and students of specialized schools.
Candidates can use the average score of 6 semesters of three subjects in the combination; or combine it with an international language certificate (from 6.5 IELTS or equivalent). When considering the combination, the certificate score will be converted, replacing the English subject.
Similarly, the University of Commerce considers high school transcript scores for candidates from specialized/national key schools; combining transcripts with international certificates.
Hanoi University of Industry also considers the three-year high school scores of three subjects in the combination, but not independently like last year, but combines international certificates, excellent student awards, Hanoi National University's ability assessment test scores, or Hanoi University of Science and Technology's thinking assessment.
Ho Chi Minh City University of Law considers the scores of 3 years of high school, three subjects in a combination of international certificates (applicable to students of international high schools); considers the entire transcript score for students of high schools in the priority list.
Meanwhile, many schools continue to independently consider high school transcript scores such as Ton Duc Thang University, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education, Hanoi University of Construction...
