Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Hai Quan - Director of Ho Chi Minh City National University said that 3 methods include: Direct admission; Admission based on the results of the Competency Assessment Exam organized by Ho Chi Minh City National University; Admission based on the results of the high school exam.
Along with reducing admission methods, the Director of Ho Chi Minh City National University said that he would encourage member schools to develop combined admission methods.
According to statistics from Ho Chi Minh City National University, in 2024, the rate of admission according to the direct admission method and priority admission according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training will account for about 1.6%; priority admission according to the regulations of Ho Chi Minh City National University will account for 9.6%; considering the scores of the competency assessment exam or combined criteria will account for more than 38.6%; more than 46% considering the high school graduation exam scores. The rest is another admission method of the member school.
This year, Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics (UEH) announced that it will enroll 7,980 students for 59 programs in Ho Chi Minh City and 600 students for 15 programs in Vinh Long.The school implements 5 admission methods, reducing 1 method compared to previous years, including: Direct admission; admission of candidates graduating from foreign high school programs and having international certificates; admission of candidates with good academic results; considering the results of the Ho Chi Minh City National University's competency assessment exam, the V-SAT exam (organized by Can Tho University) combined with international English proficiency; considering the results of the high school graduation exam.
Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics will open 3 new majors including: Data Analysis, Business and Environment Sustainable Management, International Human Resources Training Program for Finance - Banking.
In 2025, Ho Chi Minh City University of Architecture decided to use 4 admission methods, eliminating the admission method for candidates who won prizes in provincial-level excellent student exams. Four admission methods include: Direct admission according to the admission regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training; admission based on the results of the 2025 high school graduation exam; admission for high school graduates at high schools with specialized and gifted classes nationwide; admission based on the results of the 2025 competency assessment exam at Ho Chi Minh City National University.
In addition, many universities have informed that they plan to add many new admission combinations, including IT, Technology, Economic Education and Law.
Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade said that to ensure compliance with the new general education program, the school will add Math, English, Informatics and Economic and Legal Education subjects to some admission combinations and plans to add the C block admission combination to the admission list.
Gia Dinh University also plans to add some new admission combinations in some majors and majors, such as in the field of Information Technology, the school will add 2 new admission combinations: Math - Information - English and Math - Literature - Information.
For majors in the fields of communication, business, administration - management, law, social sciences and international law, banking and finance, the school adds the following combinations: Math - Literature - Physics, Math - Literature - History, Math - Literature - Economic and Legal Education, Math - Information - English.
