HCMC - Many schools have announced support for students in provinces and cities affected by floods.

On November 24, the Department of Education and Training (DET) of Ho Chi Minh City launched a program to schools and the entire education and training sector to mobilize and support people in the Central region to overcome the consequences of natural disasters.

Accordingly, the Department of Education and Training requested heads of educational institutions to urgently organize a campaign, calling on all cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers to continue to join hands to contribute and support the people of the Central region with a minimum mobilization level of one day's salary.

Educational institutions proactively review and grasp the situation; promptly visit, encourage and share with teachers, staff and workers in the unit whose relatives are living in the Central region directly affected by floods and natural disasters.

In recent days, many schools in Ho Chi Minh City have implemented support for students in provinces and cities affected by natural disasters.

Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics announced the expansion of the program to support students in flood-affected areas issued in October for students with permanent residence in Quang Ngai, Gia Lai, Dak Lak, Khanh Hoa and Lam Dong.

Students will receive a 10% tuition reduction at the end of 2025, excluding the first semester of 2026. The deadline for tuition payment has been extended by 2 and a half months, until January 26, 2026. For graduates, the support will be transferred directly to their personal accounts.

In addition, the school also awarded 100 scholarships, each worth 12-14 million VND, to students in difficult circumstances due to storms and floods who have not received any similar scholarships and have not been disciplined. Students can borrow from banks to pay tuition fees, and the school will support interest payments.

Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry has just announced the receipt of applications for an extension of tuition fees for the second semester of the 2025-2026 school year, starting from November 24.

According to the school, receiving tuition extension documents is to encourage students whose families suffered losses in storms and floods.

The school added that it will consider exempting 100% of secondary school tuition fees for students whose families suffered heavy damage due to storms and floods during this period.

Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade announced to continue extending the time to receive documents to support students whose families suffered losses due to storms and floods.

Similarly, Ho Chi Minh City Banking University has issued a notice on support and temporary postponement of tuition fees for students affected by storms and floods.
