After the Binh Ngo Lunar New Year holiday, many parents and students began to find out how long the next holiday will last, whether they will have compensatory leave or not, and whether they can arrange travel plans, return to their hometowns or participate in extracurricular activities.
According to the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET), the holiday and Tet holiday schedule for students is implemented according to the provisions of the Labor Code and guiding documents issued annually.
Based on this time frame, provinces, cities and universities will proactively develop specific school year plans, including arranging holiday schedules suitable to actual conditions, but still ensuring sufficient program duration according to regulations.

After the Lunar New Year, the next holiday in 2026 is the Hung Kings Commemoration Day (10th day of the 3rd lunar month). The Hung Kings Commemoration Day 2026 falls on Sunday, April 26. According to regulations, employees will have compensatory leave on Monday, April 27.
Thus, for units that do not organize teaching and learning on Saturday, the Hung Kings Commemoration holiday for students can last 3 consecutive days, from April 25 to April 27.
Also in April, students have another holiday, April 30 and May 1.
For schools that do not organize Saturday classes, students' holidays can last 4 days, including two official days off followed by two weekend days off, the holiday period is from April 30 to the end of May 3.
The next holiday in 2026 is National Day September 2nd.
According to the announcement of the Ministry of Home Affairs, civil servants and public employees are entitled to two days off on the occasion of National Day 2026 as prescribed, including September 2nd and one day immediately before September 1st. Units switch from the second working day (August 31st) to the weekly Saturday holiday (August 22nd).
Thus, depending on the unit, students can take a maximum of 5 days off, from Saturday, August 29, to the end of Wednesday, September 2.
According to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training on the framework of the school year time plan, Departments of Education and Training are entitled to proactively develop school schedules and holiday and Tet holidays for students in the area, provided that they ensure sufficient actual study weeks as prescribed (35 weeks).
The Ministry also requires the first semester to end before January 18 and the second semester to be completed before May 31, as a basis for localities to arrange appropriate holiday schedules for students.
