On August 21, information from the Department of Education and Training of Ca Mau province said that the unit had coordinated with relevant departments, branches and units to agree on proposed plans to rearrange colleges in the area.
Accordingly, option 1 will merge Ca Mau Medical College and Bac Lieu Medical College into Ca Mau Medical College. Merging Bac Lieu Vocational College and Vietnam - Korea Vocational College Ca Mau into Vietnam - Korea Vocational College Ca Mau. Merging Bac Lieu College of Economics and Technology and Ca Mau Community College into Ca Mau College; transferring the Faculty of Education of Ca Mau Community College (including staff, lecturers, students, training programs...) to Bac Lieu University.
Option 2 will merge Ca Mau Medical College and Bac Lieu Medical College into Ca Mau Medical College. Merging Bac Lieu Vocational College and Vietnam - Korea Vocational College Ca Mau into Vietnam - Korea Vocational College Ca Mau. End the operation of Bac Lieu College of Economics and Technology and Ca Mau Community College; transfer the current status of professional faculties of the two schools (including staff, lecturers, students, training programs, etc.) to Bac Lieu University and Ca Mau Vietnam - Korea Vocational College.
According to the Department of Education and Training of Ca Mau: Each option has certain advantages and limitations, but is in line with the goals and orientations for developing a diverse vocational education system, reasonably distributed according to the professional structure and training level, streamlining public vocational training units according to the policy in Resolution No. 19-NQ/TW.
The arrangement also aims to avoid overlapping functions between public vocational training institutions, enhance the unit's financial autonomy, streamline the apparatus, reduce staff, improve the quality of lecturers and teachers, improve the effectiveness of enrollment and vocational training quality...
After merging Bac Lieu and Ca Mau provinces, the whole province has 6 colleges under the Provincial People's Committee including: Ca Mau Medical College, Ca Mau Community College, Vietnam - Korea Vocational College Ca Mau, Bac Lieu Medical College, Bac Lieu College of Economics and Technology, Bac Lieu Vocational College.
The schools have been organizing training for 84 majors and occupations at the elementary level and above, of which 23 majors and occupations have at least 2 similar training schools. The current team of teachers and managers has 446 people (336 teachers; 110 managers); the enrollment scale for the 2021 - 2025 period is 33,300 students (colleges 6,856 students, intermediate 3,059 students; primary and vocational training under 3 months 23,460 students).
Ca Mau province has Bac Lieu University providing college, university and postgraduate training, providing high-level human resources for the province. Currently, 14 majors and occupations are being trained at university level in fields such as: Social Sciences, Pedagogy, Information Technology, Agriculture, Economics; college training in 1 major and occupation (preschool education).
