Son La plans to invest 1,880 billion VND to build schools for 13 border communes

NGUYỄN TRƯỜNG |

Son La - Son La province will focus resources on investing in building inter-level primary and secondary schools in 13 border communes with a total investment of about 1,880 billion VND.

Speaking with Lao Dong Newspaper reporter, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Viet - Chairman of Son La Provincial People's Committee said that the province is implementing Conclusion Notice No. 81-TB/TW dated July 18, 2025 of the Politburo on the investment policy for school construction for border communes.

According to Mr. Viet, through review, Son La currently has 13 border communes with about 35,868 students studying at 44 primary and secondary schools. This is the basis for the province to develop an investment plan to meet the educational requirements for students in border areas in the coming time.

According to the assessment, in border communes, there are no boarding schools, many boarding schools do not meet learning needs well. Therefore, investing in building an inter-level boarding school is an urgent requirement.

Son La province will focus resources to invest in the construction of 13 primary and secondary schools in 13 border communes including: Long Sap, Chieng Son, Xuan Nha, Phieng Khoai, Chieng Khuong, Sop Cop, Muong leo, Muong Lan, Muong Hung, Chieng Khoong, Phieng Pan, Yen Son, Long Phieng.

Of which, the province will build 11 new schools and add facilities, renovate and upgrade 2 schools in Phieng Khoai and Phieng Pan communes.

"Each school is expected to have a scale of 3 - 5 hectares, with a total investment of about 1,880 billion VND, each school can receive 800 - 1,000 students" - Mr. Viet said.
