On October 5, a representative of the Department of Education and Training of Thanh Hoa province said that the unit had assigned the Department Inspectorate and departments to investigate and clarify the incident.
According to the leader of Thanh Hoa Department of Education and Training, the problem lies in the way Lam Son High School for the Gifted organized the exam and then re-examined it. Currently, the Department is requesting a re-examination of the school's team introduction process and will have results soon.
Previously, as Lao Dong reported, on September 7-8, 2024, Lam Son High School for the Gifted organized a school-level team selection exam before participating in the provincial-level excellent student exam to select the team to participate in the national excellent student exam in 2024.
However, on September 13, 2024, Lam Son High School for the Gifted sent a document to the Department of Education and Training requesting permission to increase the quota from 15 students to 20. On September 18, 2024, the Department of Education and Training sent a document agreeing with the proposal of Lam Son High School for the Gifted.
Reflecting to Lao Dong Newspaper, parents of students at Lam Son High School for the Gifted were very upset, saying that the way Lam Son High School worked was not in accordance with procedures for an important exam.
Notably, in the score announcement board of 34 students participating in the math exam, student L.V.A.D received 12.0 points, ranking 22nd in the whole school, but later, this student's score was raised by 1.5 points, rising to 20/20, meaning he was selected for the team while this student did not write a request for appeal.
Speaking with Lao Dong, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Son - Principal of Lam Son High School for the Gifted said that the reason the school sent a document requesting to increase the quota is because this year the school has 2 math classes with 70 students, the school wants to create conditions for many students to have the opportunity to compete, the opportunity to join the team to compete in the provincial and national competitions for excellent students.
