Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine has just issued an open letter about not accepting flowers or gifts to celebrate November 20.
According to the school, at this time many families are in a difficult situation due to the severe impact of natural disasters and floods. Therefore, the school hopes that agencies and businesses will turn their appreciation into financial contributions, directly supporting people, helping people soon stabilize their lives and work.

Ho Chi Minh City University of Education also informed teachers, units, former students and all students about not accepting flowers or gifts on the occasion of November 20.
The unit called for the use of the expected funding to donate flowers to contribute to community activities, including:
Red scarves - build a learning and living space for students in difficult circumstances.
Mobile swimming pool for primary school students - contributes physical exercise and equips in drowning prevention skills.
The program to support people in Gia Lai province to overcome the consequences of storms and floods - where the school's branch is located.
Previously, on November 12, Le Minh Xuan Secondary School (Binh Loi Commune) also announced that it would not organize receptions for guests, would not accept flowers and gifts to congratulate the 43rd anniversary of Vietnamese Teachers' Day (November 20, 1982 - November 20, 2025), in order to implement the policy of thrift and fighting waste.
Many other schools in Ho Chi Minh City have also taken similar moves. Thu Duc High School (Thu Duc Ward) sent a letter of thanks and called on parents and donors to convert the gift into scholarships for students in difficult circumstances or to support people in flood-affected areas.
"The scholarships will be awarded in the celebration of the 43rd anniversary of Vietnamese Teachers' Day as a meaningful gift, encouraging the spirit of overcoming difficulties of students; at the same time, the school also allocated a part of the budget to share with people in disaster areas, spreading the spirit of humanity", the letter stated.
Similarly, Phan Van Tri Primary School (Cau Ong Lanh Ward) announced that it would not accept flowers on November 20 but would like parents and donors to give students books, candy or school supplies.
