Ho Chi Minh City requests schools to strengthen review, complete the 12th grade program and comprehensively support students to be ready for the 2026 high school graduation exam.

On April 24, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training (GDĐT) said that it has issued documents directing high schools and general schools at many levels to deploy review work for 12th grade students, ensuring the completion of the program according to the 2025-2026 school year plan.

Accordingly, professional groups and teachers teaching graduation exam subjects organize teaching closely following the curriculum, and at the same time coordinate with parents to support students in developing reasonable review plans, ensuring health in the final sprint.

12th grade students are also introduced to the structure and format of the high school graduation exam according to the announcement of the Ministry of Education and Training. The review is organized flexibly, combining self-study, group study and support for students who still face difficulties. Schools strengthen the application of information technology, exploit the learning management system (LMS) to improve the effectiveness of review.

In addition, the school arranges classrooms, libraries and assigns teachers to support students in the period from the end of the school year to before the exam.

Regarding enrollment at the beginning of the 2026-2027 school year, the Department said that it has issued documents related to the structure of the 10th grade exam questions and the selection of the third exam subject. At the same time, coordinate with local authorities to review the network of schools and classes after arranging administrative boundaries, as a basis for allocating suitable learning places.

Enrollment is oriented to ensure two principles: students studying near their residence, convenient for travel, and schools enrolling enough targets according to plan.

In which, grade 1 enrollment of the integrated program is implemented at eligible schools. Grade 6 enrollment is implemented in the form of admission, combining academic results and competency surveys for some schools; and at the same time maintaining enrollment for sports talent classes.

For grade 10, students register completely online. The enrollment method includes entrance exams for public high schools and admission consideration for private schools, vocational high schools and some specialized schools.

The 10th grade entrance exam is expected to take place on June 1 and 2, 2026 with three subjects: Mathematics, Literature and Foreign Language. Each candidate is allowed to register three aspirations in priority order and must enroll according to the winning aspiration, without change.

Regarding the organization of teaching in the coming school year, the education sector requires high schools not to rigidly organize subject combinations as before.

Instead, the school must develop a plan for students to choose subject combinations suitable to their abilities, strengths and orientation. Teaching organization will be based on students' choices and the actual conditions of the school.

Mr. Ho Tan Minh - Chief of Office of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training said that previously some educational institutions still built fixed combinations for students to choose from.

This school year, the requirement is that right from the beginning of the year, schools must prepare plans for students to register and choose, ensuring more appropriateness and flexibility, not maintaining the rigid approach as before," Mr. Minh emphasized.
