Storm No. 5 that made landfall on the evening of August 25 caused severe damage to many schools in the province, causing roofs blown off, fences collapsed, trees broken, and flooding, directly affecting preparations for the new school year.
In Hung Nguyen commune, Nguyen Hue Kindergarten had its entire corrugated iron roof of three rows of classrooms blown off. After the storm, the school was in disarray, with corrugated iron sheets tens of meters wide swept away by the storm's winds all over the schoolyard.

Although all teachers were mobilized from 7am to clean the school, due to the large amount of damage, the school had to ask for support from the authorities.
Principal Nguyen Thi Anh said: "We have prepared carefully to welcome students to school on August 25, but everything has been swept away by the storm. The new school year is approaching, making us extremely worried.

In addition, Le Hong Phong Secondary School (Hung Nguyen commune) with 2 branches also suffered many damages: the 2-storey multi-purpose building had its roof blown off, the student parking lot collapsed, and many classrooms were damaged.
Other schools such as Quang Trung Secondary School, Hung Thinh Secondary School, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Primary School, Hung Tay Kindergarten... all had their roofs blown off, with damaged fences, roofs and learning equipment. The schools are urgently coordinating with local authorities and authorities to urgently overcome the consequences.
At Huynh Thuc Khang High School (Thanh Vinh Ward), a series of trees in the campus were broken, and two rows of 4-storey classrooms were completely roofed off.

Principal Phan Xuan Phan said that after the storm, the school mobilized forces to clean up, but the amount of damage was huge, so it will definitely affect the school's construction plan. There is only more than a week left to open, the repair work must be urgent to ensure the safety of students and teachers, said Mr. Phan.

According to the Nghe An Department of Education and Training, up to now, storm No. 5 has caused damage to 83 schools in the whole province.
