Nghe An - Returning from the evacuation site, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh was stunned when her house was swept away by the storm, with only 4 walls left.

Storm No. 5 swept through the North Central provinces on the evening of August 25, sweeping away the once-in-a-lifetime home of hundreds of families.Among them, the story of Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh (born in 1962, in Hamlet 5, Trung Loc Commune, Nghe An Province) makes many people feel sorry.

On the morning of August 26, after more than 2 days of taking refuge at the commune cultural house, when the water began to recede and the wind began to recede, Ms. Thanh walked on a muddy road back to the house where she had been attached to for many years.

But in front of her, there are only 4 white walls covered with garbage. The level 4 house with a corrugated iron roof was swept away by the tornado, exposing several walls. The wooden bed where the two of them had been sleeping for many years was also damaged.

Ms. Thanh's family is a poor household. After her husband passed away, at the end of last year, she was supported by the State to build a house. Since then, she has lived with her grandchild to let her son work far away. The house is the biggest asset of the two grandmothers and grandchildren, but this storm has swept away everything.

Ms. Thanh said that in so many years, there has never been such a terrible and destructive storm. "Every year, there are winds but the wind goes fast. This year the storm is slow, the wind is strong, and the anger is very high" - she said.

In the middle of the ruins, Mrs. Thanh tried to pick up the intact wells and bowls, collect them to bring to her neighbors to live on. She just hopes for a simple thing: " Mai gai rebuild a small, a little solid house, so that the two of you have shelter through the rainy and stormy seasons".

Hearing the news of Mrs. Thanh losing her house, the villagers together encouraged and shared. The Trung Loc commune government also encouraged her and included her in the list of households receiving support to rebuild their houses.

Not only Ms. Thanh, many families in the coastal area of Nghe An also suffered losses and were left penniless. The family of Mr. Nguyen The Quang (Hamlet 6, An Chau Commune) said that all 7 members of the family live mainly on shrimp farming. The family has a 3,000m2 pond with more than 25,000 shrimp seeds, divided into 2 lakes.

The water started rising at 7pm on August 25. The whole family mobilized to build a bank, but the water rose too quickly, we had to helplessly watch the two ponds overflowed with banks and shrimp and all died" - Mr. Quang sadly said.

Mr. Tran Nguyen Hoa - Chairman of Trung Loc Commune People's Committee - said: "The top priority at present is to help households who have lost their homes have temporary shelter. In the case of Ms. Thanh, the commune will coordinate with charitable organizations to support materials and labor".
