The entrance exam to 10th grade of non-specialized high schools in Hanoi in 2026 is expected to take place in two days, the 30th and 31st. Candidates taking the exam take exams in three subjects: Math, Literature and Foreign Language (mainly English).
Students taking exams at one of the four specialized schools Hanoi - Amsterdam, Nguyen Hue, Chu Van An, Son Tay will take additional specialized subjects on June 1.
According to the plan of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, in the 2025-2026 school year, it is expected that the whole city will have about 147,000 students completing the secondary education program.
Implementing student stratification after completing the secondary education program, the number of students enrolled in grade 10 in the 2026-2027 school year at educational institutions in the city is expected to be as follows:
Enrollment into public educational institutions: approximately 88,000 students.
Recruiting into private educational institutions (high schools, vocational education institutions): about 59,000 students. Thus, this number of students will not have the opportunity to enter 10th grade of public high schools, forcing them to choose other directions such as studying in private schools or vocational training.
This year, candidates participating in the 10th grade public high school entrance exam in Hanoi take 3 subjects: Math, Literature, Foreign Language.
Admission score (ĐXT) = Math exam score + Literature exam score + Foreign language exam score + Priority points (if any) + Consolation points (if any)
In which, the exam scores of the subjects are calculated on a scale of 10.0. The priority score is based on the priority area of students according to the Enrollment Regulations to determine the priority score. In case students have multiple priority standards, they are only entitled to the highest priority standard.
Bonus points: based on provincial-level prizes organized by the Department of Education and Training or in coordination with departments and branches organized on a provincial scale for national-level organized competitions according to the Enrollment Regulations to determine bonus points. In case students win many different prizes in many competitions/exams, they will only receive one bonus point level of the highest prize type.
Recruit candidates who wish to register for admission to the school, taking according to the admission score from highest to lowest until the quota is used up.
Admission is only considered for students who have enough exam papers as prescribed, do not violate the Exam Regulations to the extent of canceling exam paper results, and no exam paper is scored 0 (no).
