The Ministry of Education and Training has just sent an official dispatch to higher education institutions to prioritize allocating resources to exempt and reduce tuition fees and provide financial support suitable to the circumstances of each student affected by storm No. 3.
According to the Ministry of Education and Training, recently, many localities across the country, especially the northern provinces, have suffered heavy losses in property and lives caused by storm No. 3, including students and their families.
The Ministry of Education and Training highly appreciates the spirit of mutual love and proactiveness in mobilizing resources and joining hands with the whole country to support compatriots and localities in overcoming the consequences of storms and floods of higher education institutions and pedagogical colleges.
To continue supporting students affected by storms and floods to stabilize their studies soon, the Ministry of Education and Training recommends that higher education institutions and pedagogical colleges pay attention to and prioritize the allocation of resources to exempt and reduce tuition fees and provide financial support policies appropriate to each student's circumstances; instruct students to contact local authorities to request confirmation of cases where their families have sudden financial difficulties to apply for credit loans to support their studies.
According to the Ministry of Education and Training, as of September 16, storm No. 3 had caused damage to facilities and teaching equipment estimated at VND1,260 billion; damaged 41,564 sets of textbooks; and caused 52 deaths of students and children, 3 missing students, 8 injured students; 3 teachers died, 1 teacher missing.
