According to the Department of Transport of Da Nang, in 2024, the Department has implemented many measures to improve the quality and efficiency of management and maintenance of traffic infrastructure in the area. This is not only to ensure traffic safety but also to contribute to maintaining urban order, especially during holidays, Tet and important events.
The Department has regularly reviewed and promptly repaired degraded and damaged traffic works. Up to now, 44 works have been completed, while 11 works are under construction and 15 others are in the investment preparation stage.
These activities include maintenance and repair of roads and inland waterways, adjustment of traffic signs and traffic lights, painting of traffic lanes, and overcoming shortcomings in traffic organization.
The Department of Transport also closely coordinated with the City Traffic Safety Committee, the Police, and the People's Committees of districts to review and strengthen traffic safety at 137 hotspots in the area. For locations under the Department's authority, investment preparation and construction have been completed at 50 locations, expected to be completed in October 2024.
In addition, bidding to select contractors for management and maintenance of bridges, roads, traffic light systems and national highways is also being carried out to ensure the quality of traffic infrastructure in the 2024-2026 period.
At the same time, solutions to manage sidewalk order, traffic flow and prohibit parking on some routes have been proposed to ensure urban aesthetics and safety for people.
The Department of Transport Inspectorate has increased patrols, handling violations of illegal parking, trucks and passenger cars violating prohibition signs, and controlling vehicle weight in the city. Inspections will continue to be maintained to ensure traffic order and safety, especially at key areas such as school gates and major bridges.
