On July 29, according to the National Highway 1 - Ly Thuong Kiet - Pham Hong Thai intersection (Nam Dong Ha ward, Quang Tri province), the traffic light in the direction of Ly Thuong Kiet - Pham Hong Thai had an error displaying: both green and red lights were in the same light when it was the turn of the vehicle to move.
The incident has lasted for more than a month, causing many people to confused whether to stop or go. Some "trendless" drivers even drive and record videos as evidence because they are worried about being punished.
According to local people, on the evening of July 28, at this intersection, a collision occurred between two cars due to the driver mistakenly signaling the lights. Careful drivers stopped, causing the vehicle to continuously honk, causing traffic tension.
Next to the lamp post is a notice board "signal light in trouble", however, the sign is far from the view and close to the edge of the road, so almost no one is paying attention. After a confusing start, local people had to reluctantly get used to this situation to continue traffic.
Not only one location, two other intersections on National Highway 1, the intersection with Dien Bien Phu Street (Nam Dong Ha Ward) and Tran Hung Dao Street (Quang Tri Ward) also have similar situations.
On the morning of July 29, at both locations, three green - yellow - red lights lit up at the same time, then the lighting system went out completely, causing chaos and disorder for vehicles to circulate. Especially during rainy weather, limited visibility, and lack of directional signals can easily lead to accidents.
Mr. Truong Chi Trung - Director of the Department of Construction, Deputy Standing Committee of the Traffic Safety Committee of Quang Tri province said that the traffic light system in the area is managed by the locality, but the operation is the responsibility of the police force.
Faced with the situation of many pillars operating intermittently, the Department will have documents guiding, coordinating to review and inspect to promptly overcome the situation. In the long term, investment plans will be studied and the signal lighting system in the area will be upgraded synchronously.
