According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction, the nearly 6 km long section of National Highway 13 (from Binh Trieu Bridge to the old Binh Duong border) has been approved by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee for the compensation, support and resettlement component project. Related procedures are being urgently implemented, with the total cost for this work and relocation of technical infrastructure estimated at about 14.6 billion VND.

After many years of being overloaded, this project is highly anticipated by the people. When completed, the road section through the old Ho Chi Minh City will be expanded to 60 m with 10 lanes. The highlight is the 3.2 km long overpass with 4 lanes, a speed of 80 km/h, and a 3-lane parallel road below. In particular, the two underpasses at Binh Loi and Binh Phuoc intersections will help relieve traffic pressure at these hot spots.

Meanwhile, in the old Binh Duong area, the about 15 km long section of National Highway 13 (from Vinh Phu welcome gate to Le Hong Phong street) is also witnessing acceleration in site clearance and relocation of technical infrastructure. This is the section of road connecting to the old Ho Chi Minh City via Vinh Binh Bridge, which was a "hot" point for traffic congestion.
To synchronize the entire route and meet the development needs after the merger with Ho Chi Minh City, the People's Council of Binh Duong province has added VND6,000 billion, significantly increasing the total investment compared to the previous VND1,400 billion. This road will be expanded by 2 lanes (total of 8 lanes), along with investment in overpasses, sidewalks, trees and drainage systems.

In reality, many houses have retreated inside, creating an empty space for construction. Machinery and equipment have been mobilized to relocate technical infrastructure, ensuring traffic safety.
Despite the impact on their lives, most people have expressed their agreement with the project. Mr. Nguyen Van Hai - a local resident - shared: "My house had to retreat deep to the back, losing the yard and a room in front, but in return, the road was larger and safer. There are disadvantages, but for the common good, my family supports it".

It is expected that the site clearance work will be completed in 2025 and the construction project will be constructed and completed in 2026.
When completed, National Highway 13 will become a vital traffic axis, connecting throughout the center of Ho Chi Minh City with industrial parks and large urban areas of the old Binh Duong and the provinces of the Southeast and Central Highlands. This is expected to create a strong driving force for socio-economic development in the whole region.
