Provincial Road 70 is a route that acts as an axis for inter-provincial transit traffic through Hanoi, connecting radial highways such as National Highway 32, National Highway 6, National Highway 1A and Lang - Hoa Lac Road.
However, in recent years, the rapid urban development, many new housing areas, along with the hospital and school systems, have caused frequent traffic jams on Provincial Road 70, Ha Dong - Van Dien section, unable to meet the travel needs of the people.
To solve the above situation, from now until 2026, Hanoi will implement the project to renovate and upgrade Provincial Road 70, Ha Dong - Van Dien section, 7.08 km long, with a total estimated investment of more than 5,484 billion VND, from the city budget.
The starting point connects with Nguyen Khuyen Street in Van Quan urban area (Ha Dong district), the end point is at Tu Hiep intersection (connecting with the route connecting Phap Van - Cau Gie with Ring Road 3, Thanh Tri district).
On the project route, there are 2 different level intersections including the intersection with the 53.4 m wide planned road (connecting Ring Road 3 - Ring Road 4) and the intersection with the old National Road 1A in Thanh Tri district.
According to preliminary statistics, 355,828 m2 of land will be recovered to implement the project, of which agricultural land is about 205,352 m2; residential land is about 47,537 m2 with about 788 households affected; land for headquarters of agencies, units, traffic roads and airspace is about 102,939 m2.
In addition to the synchronous construction of construction items, the project has invested in 3 more bridges on the route, including building a new bridge over To Lich River and National Highway 1A, building a new bridge over Hoa Binh River, and expanding To Bridge over To Lich River.
In Hoang Mai district, the project to upgrade and expand Linh Nam road is one of the key traffic projects in the area that is being focused on implementing resources.
The project was approved for investment in 2013 with a length of 3.4 km, starting at Tam Trinh intersection and ending at Nguyen Khoi embankment intersection. Part of the route (from Vinh Hung intersection to Nguyen Khoi embankment) is the section of Hanoi Ring Road 2.5.
According to the plan, Linh Nam road will be expanded on the basis of the existing road, with 2 sections with cross-sections of 22.5 m and 40 m respectively.
By August 2024, the Hanoi People's Committee approved the adjustment of the implementation time of the project to upgrade and expand Linh Nam Street according to the plan, to be completed in 2027.
The reason for the adjustment is due to difficulties and problems in site clearance, leading to the project not ensuring progress.
According to the People's Committee of Hoang Mai district, 829 households and 19 organizations in 4 wards, including Mai Dong, Vinh Hung, Linh Nam and Tran Phu, will have their land partially or completely recovered with a total area of 98,300 m2 to serve the project.
Currently, the People's Committee of Hoang Mai district has assigned the Land Fund Development Center to organize the measurement of land clearance maps, coordinate with the People's Committees of wards to issue land recovery notices, investigate and count.
This locality strives to start construction by June 2025 and complete the project by 2027.
The upgrading and expansion of Linh Nam Road and Provincial Road 70 helps to complete the southern gateway traffic infrastructure, contributing to reducing traffic congestion and promoting socio-economic development of Hanoi Capital.
