Hanoi reclaims 98,300m2 of land to open a 6-lane road, to be completed in 2027

Hanoi - It is expected that by March 2025, Hoang Mai district will complete the land clearance of about 98,300 square meters of land to expand Linh Nam road.

Linh Nam Street (Hoang Mai District) is a vital route connecting Thanh Tri Bridge area, Ring Road 3 with the center of Hanoi, but the road width is only about 7-8m and has degraded.

"The road is narrow, there are many vehicles, especially large cars, so just a little carelessness can easily lead to an accident," said Mr. Nguyen Van Son (54 years old, Tran Phu ward, Hoang Mai). He added that in addition to serious incidents, minor collisions between vehicles happen "every day" on the above road section.

For many years, people traveling through this road have been "waiting with bated breath" for the day the road is widened, improved and their lives are guaranteed.

"The project to upgrade and renovate Linh Nam Street has been around for a long time but has not been implemented yet, while people are worried every day when passing through here. I hope the government will soon have a solution to resolve this issue," said Mr. Son.

According to Lao Dong's research, the project to upgrade and expand Linh Nam Street was approved for investment by the Hanoi People's Committee in 2013.

By August 2024, the Hanoi People's Committee approved the adjustment of the implementation time of the Linh Nam Road Upgrade and Expansion Project according to the planning, to be completed in 2027.

The reason for the adjustment is due to difficulties and problems in site clearance, leading to the project not ensuring progress.

The project is about 3.4km long, starting at Tam Trinh intersection and ending at Nguyen Khoi embankment intersection. Part of the route (from Vinh Hung intersection to Nguyen Khoi embankment) is part of Hanoi Ring Road 2.5.

According to the plan, Linh Nam road will be expanded on the basis of the existing road, with 2 sections with cross-sections of 22.5m and 40m respectively (meeting 4-6 lanes).

According to the People's Committee of Hoang Mai district, to implement the project, Hoang Mai district will reclaim and clear 98,300 square meters of land, involving 829 households and 19 organizations in 4 wards, including: Mai Dong, Vinh Hung, Linh Nam and Tran Phu.

At the conference to meet and dialogue with the Fatherland Front, socio-political organizations and people in Hoang Mai district in 2024 on November 28, Hoang Mai District Party Secretary Nguyen Xuan Linh said that the district has assigned officials in charge of each area, directly leading and directing relevant wards to carry out tasks related to the Linh Nam Road Expansion Project.

Hoang Mai District strives to complete site clearance before March 31, 2025 and use this as a project to welcome the 5th term Hoang Mai District Party Congress.

After completing the site clearance, Hoang Mai district will organize the groundbreaking ceremony for the Linh Nam Road Expansion Project and complete the project in 2027.

When completed, Linh Nam Road expansion will play an important role in connecting Ring Road 2.5 with Ring Road 3.

The upgrading and expansion of Linh Nam Street will facilitate traffic from Thanh Tri Bridge - Ring Road 3 to Dam Hong - Nguyen Trai; help reduce traffic congestion on main roads at the southern gateway, contributing to the socio-economic development of Hoang Mai district.
