On the morning of August 19, the People's Committee of Hai Phong City coordinated with Vingoup Corporation to organize the inauguration ceremony of the construction of May Chai Bridge (royal Bridge) and the approach roads on both sides of the bridge under the Vu Yen Island Entertainment Area, Housing and Ecological Park Project (Vinhomes Royal Island) - Hai Phong.
Attending the inauguration ceremony were Senior Lieutenant General Vu Hai San, member of the Party Central Committee, member of the Central Military Commission, Deputy Minister of National Defense; Mr. Le Tien Chau, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the City Party Committee, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Hai Phong City; representatives of the Ministry of Construction; leaders of the city and departments in Hai Phong.
With a length of nearly 2.2 km, 21 meters wide and 4 lanes, May Chai Bridge has a starting point on Vu Yen Island, the end point intersecting with Le Thanh Tong Street, shortening the travel time from the island to the city center in less than 5 minutes. The total investment of the project is over 2,000 billion VND. The bridge is considered a new symbol of Hai Phong with the design of 2 curved towers at the bridgehead, which both evoke the image of birds flying high and create the "World Gateway Bridge" as a friendly invitation to breakthrough investment and business opportunities in the area.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the bridge, Mr. Le Ngoc Chau, Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee, said: Today, at 6 bridges in the area, Hai Phong City simultaneously started construction and inaugurated 9 key projects and works in many fields including 5 projects in the field of road traffic, aviation (started construction of Passenger Terminal T2 - Cat Bi International Airport); 3 projects in the fields of health, culture, social security...
According to the Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee, these projects not only contribute to completing transportation infrastructure, aviation, healthcare, culture, and social security but also create new momentum to promote growth, expand urban development space and improve the quality of life of the people.
9 projects and works were inaugurated by Hai Phong and started on August 19 to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025), in both direct and online formats at the same time; organized 6 bridges, including 3 main bridges connecting to the main bridge of the Government including the bridges: Inauguration of May Chai Bridge Project and access roads on both sides of the bridge; Starting of the T2 Passenger Terminal Project - Cat Bi International Airport and starting of the Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong Railway Project Resettlement Area Construction Project.
On the same day, Vingroup Corporation also held a groundbreaking ceremony and inaugurated 5 other projects in localities across the country, with the highlight being the Inauguration Ceremony of the Vietnam Exhibition Center in Dong Anh, Hanoi. This center has a total area of over 900,000 m2, positioned to become the largest exhibition center complex in Southeast Asia and is in the Top 10 largest exhibition complexes in the world.
In addition, there are 5 socio-economic infrastructure projects, transportation, industry, urban and tourism in Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, Ha Tinh, Tay Ninh and Dong Nai.
