On December 13, information from the Lam Dong Provincial Investment and Construction Project Management Board No. 1 said that the Tan Phu - Bao Loc Expressway is a Group A project, level I road standards, with a design speed of 80km/h, implemented in the form of public-private partnership.
This expressway has a total length of about 66km, including 12km in Dong Nai province and nearly 54km in Lam Dong province.
The starting point of the expressway coincides with the end point of the Dau Giay - Tan Phu expressway; the end point is at Ward 1 Bao Loc (Lam Dong province), connecting to the 74km long Bao Loc - Lien Khuong expressway, which started construction at the end of June 2025.
In the first phase, the route is 17m wide with 4 car lanes, designed speed of 80km/h; along the route, there are emergency lanes with non-continuous stops.
In the deep, high roadbeds, intersections and some bridges and cross-sections are designed on a complete scale, with a foundation width of 22m to ensure technical requirements.
In the completed phase, the expressway will be expanded to 22m and two emergency lanes will be arranged.
The project has a total investment of VND 14,475 billion, implemented in the form of public-private partnership (PPP) under a construction - business - transfer (BOT) contract.
Son Hai Group won the project bid, constructed for 25 months, and operated toll collection for 23 years and 9 months.
Currently, Lam Dong Province Investment and Construction Project Management Board No. 1 has prepared the basic conditions for the groundbreaking ceremony and is expected to be held on December 19.
Regarding the location, the area is expected to start construction at the expressway intersection with DT.721, in Da Huoai commune, Lam Dong province. This is an area with convenient transportation, a public land managed by the locality, which has been marked and handed over.
Mr. Nguyen Hong Hai, Vice Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee, said that the Tan Phu - Bao Loc expressway is a national key project, of great significance to Lam Dong in particular and the whole country in general. The Provincial People's Committee agreed on the time to hold the groundbreaking ceremony on December 19, 2025.
Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee has assigned relevant units to carefully prepare the location, site and necessary conditions for the groundbreaking ceremony, ensuring solemnity, promoting the significance of the project, while ensuring security and safety.
Along with the Bao Loc - Lien Khuong Expressway, when completed, the route will shorten travel time from Ho Chi Minh City to Da Lat from more than 6 hours to about 3 hours, contributing to sharing the pressure on the overloaded arterial route of National Highway 20.
The expressway also creates conditions for Lam Dong province to strengthen trade connections, promote socio-economic development, and contribute to the implementation of the "double-digit" economic growth target for the 2025-2030 term.
