On April 10, Lam Dong Provincial Police coordinated with the Department of Science and Technology, the Department of Construction and related units to deploy the installation and commissioning of the ITS system at 2 intersections including: Nga 5 Dai hoc Da Lat (Dinh Tien Hoang street) and Kim Cuc intersection (Xuan Huong ward - Da Lat).

These are "hot spots" of congestion, with large traffic volume, especially during peak hours and holidays and Tet.
Da Lat is not only a tourist destination but also the center of socio-economic development of the region.
The rapid increase in tourists has led to an increase in personal vehicles, putting pressure on traffic infrastructure, leading to localized congestion at some intersections.

Faced with this reality, Lam Dong province is implementing solutions to apply artificial intelligence (AI) to ITS systems, aiming for modern traffic management and operation.
According to Major Nguyen Minh Dung - Deputy Head of the Traffic Police Department of Lam Dong Provincial Police, the highlight of the system is the ability to analyze, evaluate and automatically adjust the signal light cycle in real time, suitable for vehicle traffic.
The system helps to divert traffic flexibly, reduce congestion and shorten the waiting time for traffic lights. In particular, ITS has the ability to adapt in peak situations, holidays, Tet; and at the same time, early warning of accidents, bad weather and traffic unsafety risks.

In addition, the system also supports functional forces to regulate traffic effectively, reducing pressure at the scene.
ITS has the ability to identify violations such as running red lights, going in the wrong lane, stopping and parking improperly with high accuracy.
All image and video data at intersections are transmitted to the Provincial Traffic Management Center for automatic processing, serving the detection and handling of violations according to regulations. The application of AI contributes to improving objectivity, transparency, and at the same time increasing the effectiveness of "cold fines", raising the awareness of law compliance of traffic participants," Major Dung said.
