According to information from the Traffic Police Department (Hanoi City Police), the unit has drawn up a record to fine an ambulance driver for a series of serious violations.
According to authorities, after the match between Vietnam and Thailand in the final of the 2024 ASEAN Cup ended, thousands of people poured into the streets to celebrate the victory. To ensure traffic safety and order, the Hanoi Traffic Police force was mobilized to the maximum on key routes.
At around 11:55 p.m. on January 5, 2025, on Nghiem Xuan Yem Street, the working group of Road Traffic Police Team No. 14 discovered a car with license plate 30E-741.xx, with an ambulance emblem and priority equipment, but carrying fans to "go to the storm". The authorities stopped the car for inspection and discovered a series of serious violations.
Accordingly, the driver of the vehicle was Mr. L.T.H (born in 1991, residing in Yen Dinh district, Thanh Hoa province). Working with the authorities, Mr. H could not present a driver's license, vehicle registration, technical safety and environmental protection inspection stamp that had expired for more than a month.
In particular, the alcohol concentration measurement results showed that Mr. H violated the alcohol concentration at 0.514 milligrams/1 liter of breath, exceeding the maximum threshold of 0.4 milligrams/1 liter of breath according to the provisions of Decree 168/2024.
Traffic police have issued an administrative violation report for Mr. H for the following violations: using priority equipment for the wrong purpose, driving with an alcohol concentration exceeding 0.4 milligrams/1 liter of breath, and not having a driver's license and related documents. The total administrative fine for these violations is up to more than 60 million VND. The vehicle has also been temporarily detained for further investigation and handling.
“This is the first case where the unit has detected an alcohol concentration of over 0.4 milligrams per liter of breath since Decree 168/2024 took effect. In addition, using an ambulance for the wrong purpose is an especially serious act,” said Lieutenant Colonel Tran Tu Anh, Deputy Captain of Traffic Police Team No. 14.
The above incident is a warning for violations of traffic safety during major events. In addition to directing traffic, Hanoi Traffic Police will resolutely handle violations, contributing to ensuring traffic safety and maintaining a civilized and safe image in the joy of victory of the whole country.
