As Lao Dong reported, the project to handle unsafe locations through Khau Coc Cha Pass (Bao Lac District) has been started since June 2023 with a total investment of 39 billion VND. The funding source is allocated by the Ministry of Transport (MOT), the Department of Transport of Cao Bang province is the investor.
In this renovation, the items implemented include: expanding the view, asphalt concrete pavement of the entire road surface, adding a traffic safety system, reinforcing sidewalks and adding vertical ditches, to ensure exploitation, maintaining the life of the roadbed and road surface, as well as improving traffic safety for the pass.
According to the original plan, the project was expected to be completed in December 2023, but due to construction on complex terrain, with many overlapping curves, a narrow road surface and many high-voltage power pole systems within the area of blasting and rock breaking, construction has encountered many difficulties. It will not be until early 2025 that the project can be completed.
On March 7, it was noted that at the pass, all levels of the pass have been paved with asphalt, the corners have been expanded, and the guardrail system has been built.
However, some locations are still landslides, the road surface is affected by the impact of the circulation of storm No. 3 (Yagi) in September 2024 and is still waiting for repair. In particular, many locations of the asphalt road surface show signs of peeling and not being sagging despite a long repair process.
Talking to reporters, Mr. Le Van Dinh - Deputy Director of the Department of Construction of Cao Bang province - said: "The renovation has been completed, the pass has served people traveling since the Lunar New Year".
In addition, repairing landslides caused by natural disasters must wait for an emergency construction order from the superiors before repairs can be carried out.
It is known that Khau Coc Cha Pass is located on National Highway 4A, 2.5 km long. This is the only road connecting Xuan Truong commune with the center of Bao Lac district. With 15 levels of passes and 14 turns clinging to the rocky mountains, moving through here will bring a new feeling. For a long time, this pass has become one of the famous tourism symbols of Cao Bang province.
