Growing vegetables on a hundred billion VND road in Hanoi took 4 years to complete

Hanoi - The unfinished 6-lane road project in Nam Tu Liem for many years has become a place for people to grow vegetables.

The project to build Vu Quynh road connecting to Le Duc Tho - Pham Hung road (Nam Tu Liem district, Hanoi) is 1.4km long, passing through Phu Do, My Dinh 1 and My Dinh 2 wards, with a total investment of 253 billion VND.

This is an important route of Nam Tu Liem district, connecting with main roads such as Me Tri street and the route from Me Tri to Do Duc Duc, meeting 6 lanes.

Construction began in 2020 and was expected to be completed in 450 days. However, after nearly four years of construction, the project remains unfinished.

In mid-November, the atmosphere at the project site was quiet. Hearing us ask about the Vu Quynh route connecting to Le Duc Tho - Pham Hung, everyone in the area knew. Some even thought it was the construction unit coming so they ran over to ask about the progress.

"Construction here has stopped for 1-2 years now, workers and machines have left the project site one by one" - Mr. Tran Quang Hop (75 years old, My Dinh 1 ward, Nam Tu Liem) said and informed that the project is not completed, affecting people's lives.

This 75-year-old man looks forward to the day when the authorities will complete the project, so that travel will be more convenient and the lives of people along the route will also change.

According to the Nam Tu Liem District Construction Investment Project Management Board, after the end of the 450-day contract period, the project is still stuck in the land and cannot continue construction. The Board has requested an extension once until December 31, 2023 and is requesting a second extension until the end of 2025.
