FTSE Russell announced 117 Vietnamese stocks added to FTSE Total-Cap, of which 27 codes joined FTSE All-Cap and 6 codes were included in FTSE All-World.

On August 21, FTSE Russell announced the September 2026 semi-annual review results for the FTSE Global Equity Index Series (GEIS) Asia-Pacific region, excluding Japan and China.

This is a review that is of particular interest to domestic investors as Vietnam is preparing to officially move from a frontier market to a secondary emerging market in FTSE Russell's classification system.

According to the list just announced, 27 Vietnamese stocks were newly added to FTSE All-Cap, the index includes stocks belonging to the three capitalization groups Large Cap, Mid Cap and Small Cap. In which, the Large Cap group has 3 stocks including Vietcombank (VCB), Vingroup (VIC) and Vinhomes (VHM).

The Mid Cap group also had 3 additional stocks, including BIDV (BID), Hoa Phat (HPG) and VPBank (VPB).

The Small Cap group has the largest number with 21 stocks, including FPT (FPT), Gelex (GEX), HDBank (HDB), HSC Securities (HCM), Masan Consumer (MCH), Masan Group (MSN), Novaland (NVL), SHB, Sacombank (STB), SeABank (SSB), SSI Securities (SSI), Technical and Commercial Securities - TCBS (TCX), Vinamilk (VNM), Vietcap Securities (VCI), Vietjet (VJC), MSB, Vincom Retail (VRE), Vinpearl (VPL), VIX Securities (VIX), VNDirect (VND) and VPS Securities (VCK).

If expanded to FTSE Total-Cap, the index includes the Micro Cap group alongside Large Cap, Mid Cap and Small Cap, the total number of newly added Vietnamese stocks is up to 117. In addition to 27 FTSE All-Cap stocks, FTSE Russell added 90 more Vietnamese stocks to the Micro Cap group.

Notably, 6 stocks including VCB, VIC, VHM, BID, HPG and VPB were also added to FTSE All-World, the index focusing on stocks belonging to the Large Cap and Mid Cap groups.

FTSE All-World is one of the important global indices belonging to the GEIS system, covering thousands of large and medium-cap stocks in developed and emerging markets around the world. According to FTSE Russell, the upgrade will make Vietnam the 49th country to join FTSE All-World.

Previously, FTSE Russell confirmed the upgrade of Vietnam from a frontier market to a secondary emerging market, effective from the market opening on September 21, 2026.

FTSE Russell said that Vietnam has met all the criteria of the secondary emerging market group, after changes in market access, non-prefunding mechanisms and connection models with global brokers.

According to the ranking organization's roadmap, the inclusion of Vietnamese stocks in global indices will not be carried out entirely in one time but will be divided into 4 phases, starting from September 2026 and completing in September 2027. This method aims to limit the impact on liquidity and help capital flows according to indices have time to allocate to the market.

According to FTSE Russell's announcement, the changes in the review period will take effect after the market closes on September 18, 2026, correspondingly officially applying from Monday, September 21, 2026.

FTSE Russell also noted that the portfolio announced on August 21st may still be adjusted until the end of September 4th and is considered the last portfolio from September 7th, 2026.
